Trace a fortress in the manner of Vauban. When the plan is finished, a royal army besieges it by the book: trenches, three parallels, a breaching battery, then the assault. Hold out until the relief army arrives.

Besieging army
Guns on a straight wall cannot fire at its foot. Bastion flanks sweep the ditch in front of the neighbouring curtain.
Cannon stand on bastions or ravelins. Musketeers stand on any wall.
The enemy picks the weakest, least-covered sector and saps toward it.
